St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia (SJIIM)’s most recent batch of IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme) graduates were celebrated in a ceremony at the school’s Tropicana PJ campus. In addition to graduation certificates, a total of 14 student honours comprising six Academic Prizes and eight Major Awards – Sportsperson Of The Year Award, Outstanding Achievement Award, Lasallian Service Award, Academic Excellence Award, Principal’s Award, Arts Award, Tan Sri (Dr) Tan Chin Tuan Book Prize Award and the coveted Josephian of the Year Award – were also presented to deserving graduates.
The school’s IBDP Coordinator, Maureen Fitzgerald said, “I am so proud of this amazing group of young people. They are a real testament to the changes that come from the IB Diploma Programme, when students really put their whole selves forward in the opportunities and challenges that it affords.” And Dr Nicola Brown, High School Principal of SJIIM, added, “We are very proud of our second cohort of graduates. Each student has brought something meaningful to our community. They have been wonderful role models to our younger students and have acted as accomplished and dignified ambassadors for our Lasallian community.”
Through the globally recognised IBDP at SJIIM, students develop the core skills required to be ahead of their peers by the time they begin tertiary studies and to succeed at university. At SJIIM, IBDP students are encouraged to constantly evaluate and question the knowledge they have as well as participate in CAS (Creativity, performing arts/exhibitions; Activity, sports teams/expeditions; and Service, community service) for a well-rounded education experience. IBDP graduates also have access to the world’s leading universities in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Americas, Europe and Asia.
SJIIM’s 2019/20 IBDP intake (which commences in August 2019) is still open for application. Interested applicants can visit www.sji-international.edu.my for more information.
