Education is an investment of time, finances and effort from all parties – parents, children and the school they attend. Once a parent decides that an international school is what they would like for their child, there are many aspects to assess from type of curriculum to location of the school and academic results to facilities.

The Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) opened its doors in 2000 and has grown to be one of the leading international schools in Malaysia. Following the Australian curriculum, the school is recognised by the Ministry of Education as a ‘5-Star Excellence School’ and is part of the renowned Taylor’s Education Group.

Why you should consider sending your children to AISM

Visible Learning School: AISM was the first school in the world to attain this prolific certification. This evidence-based approach to teaching and learning was developed after the largest study into teaching was undertaken. The basis of this successful methodology is that students’ academic needs are always at the forefront with the aim of developing effective collaborators, communicators and creative thinkers.

Digital learning: Digital fluency is a core learning objective, and never has this been more crucial in education as now. The school emphasises that technology is used to serve and enhance and is committed to keeping updated with the latest developments and tools.

50/50 assessment approach: The Australian curriculum taught at AISM is rated ‘high quality, high equity’ by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Programme for International Student Assessment. The Higher School Certificate (HSC) are the widely acclaimed secondary qualifications sat for at the end of senior school and are based on assignments, projects and tests (50%); and external exams (50%).

Academic excellence: As one of the best performing international schools in the country, AISM students consistently score high grades in the HSC exams and Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR). In 2018, the school achieved the best HSC results outside Australia and ranks in the top 20% of New South Wales schools.

Australian and international educators: The majority of the academic staff have been trained in Australia and other western education systems and have all been accredited by their national education bodies.

Looking after students’ wellbeing: This is an essential part of daily school life at AISM with regular sessions conducted to ensure students are able to air concerns, practise mindfulness, set goals and reflect on the positives of their week. There are several certified Mindfulness Practitioners on staff and development plans in place to further train teachers in this field.

At AISM, we continue to strive for the best through the globally-recognised Australian curriculum which is designed to arm your child with skills necessary for their future. Learn more about our approach at aism.edu.my or call us at 03-89495000.
